Scott R. McMillen Awarded Medical Malpractice Lawyer of the Year

Orlando Attorney, Scott R. McMillen, has been awarded Best Lawyers’ Lawyer of the Year for Medical Malpractice Litigation – Plaintiffs – in Orlando for 2025. This is the second time that Scott has been awarded this distinction, having won previously in 2022.

Scott R. McMillen started his legal career representing hospitals and doctors, but for over 30 years he has been exclusively representing patients in medical malpractice cases. Mr. McMillen received his B.S. Degree from Florida State University and a Doctor of Law degree from Emory University. He has been licensed to practice law in Florida since 1980, and in Georgia since 1979. He became Senior Counsel to Paul Knopf Bigger in December 2020.
Mr. McMillen has been involved in many professional organizations in Florida, including serving on The Florida Bar Board of Governors for six years, and on the Board of Directors of the Florida Justice Association, where he has previously served as Chair of the Medical Malpractice Committee. He is a past President of The Central Florida Trial Lawyers, past President of the Orange County Bar Association, and past President of the Orange County Bar Legal Aid Society.
Mr. McMillen is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and has served on the Georgia Bar Board of Governors and the Georgia Bar’s Professionalism Committee.
